Geological Engineering (EGL)
Section Information
Geological Engineering focuses on the application of geological science and engineering principles to the assessment, design, and management of projects involving earth materials and subsurface systems. The field integrates geology, geotechnics, hydrology, and environmental science to support infrastructure development, resource extraction, and hazard mitigation.
Current research includes rock mechanics, engineering geology, slope stability, groundwater systems, geohazard assessment, and sustainable resource management. Advances in remote sensing, geophysical methods, numerical modeling, and field monitoring technologies are improving risk evaluation and project performance.
This section publishes field investigations, laboratory studies, modeling research, case analyses, and review articles related to subsurface engineering, geological risk management, and earth system applications.
