Overview
The Advances in Science, Technology and Engineering Systems Journal (ASTESJ) is a bi-monthly, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research in science, technology, engineering, applied systems, and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, and technical notes that present clear methods, verifiable results, and a defined contribution to the relevant field.
ASTESJ applies editorial screening and external peer review before publication. Editorial office staff check manuscript files, metadata, scope fit, ethical declarations, and formatting. Scientific assessment is handled by assigned academic editors and independent external reviewers. No primary research article is accepted without at least two independent external review reports.
ASTESJ publishes accepted articles online under an open-access model. Article processing charges are applied only after acceptance and do not influence editorial screening, reviewer selection, peer-review reports, editorial decisions, or publication outcomes.
Aims & Scope
ASTESJ welcomes manuscripts that report original, technically sound, and clearly presented research in science, technology, engineering systems, and applied interdisciplinary areas. Manuscripts must state the research problem, describe the method in enough detail for verification, report results clearly, and explain the contribution against current literature.
The journal accepts work in the subject areas listed below when the manuscript has a clear technical contribution and fits the journal scope. Manuscripts outside these areas may be declined during editorial screening before peer review.

Article Types
- Original research articles: complete studies with a clear research question, reproducible method, results, and discussion.
- Review articles: critical reviews that synthesize current research, identify technical gaps, and explain future research needs.
- Technical notes: shorter articles that report a validated method, dataset, design, implementation, or technical observation.
Full submission requirements are available on the Instructions for Authors page.
Out-of-Scope Manuscripts
ASTESJ may decline a manuscript before peer review if the submission lacks a clear technical contribution, falls outside the listed subject areas, reports unsupported claims, duplicates previously published work, lacks required ethical approval, or does not meet basic reporting and formatting requirements.
Manuscripts that are not suitable for ASTESJ may be returned during editorial screening. Authors should review the Instructions for Authors and Publishing Ethics pages before submission.
Peer Review and Editorial Independence
ASTESJ uses external peer review for all primary research articles. Each manuscript that passes editorial screening is assigned for academic assessment and review by at least two independent external reviewers. Reviewers must declare conflicts of interest and must not be from the same institution as any author.
Editorial office staff coordinate submission checks, correspondence, file preparation, and production tasks. These tasks do not replace external scientific review. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer reports, editor assessment, journal scope, ethical compliance, and the technical quality of the manuscript.
Article processing charges, institutional relationships, special issue status, and author identity do not determine acceptance. Manuscripts submitted by editors, editorial board members, guest editors, or journal staff are handled by independent editors with no conflict of interest.
Detailed peer-review procedures are available on the Editorial Process, Instructions for Reviewers, and Information for Editors pages.
Special Issues
Special issues must fit the journal scope and follow the same peer-review and ethics rules as regular submissions. Guest Editors may recommend reviewers and advise on technical fit, but special issue manuscripts still require independent external peer review. Manuscripts submitted by a Guest Editor or a related author are handled by an independent editor.
Each special issue page should list the Guest Editor name, role, institution, department where available, city, country, email or profile link, ORCID where available, open or closed status, submission deadline, and publication period.
Current and past special issues are listed on the Special Issues page. New proposals may be submitted through the Special Issue Proposal Application.
Research Ethics and Reporting
Submissions involving human participants, personal data, clinical or health-related interventions, animal studies, or regulated materials must include the required approval, consent, and registration information. Clinical trials and interventional human-subject studies must provide a public trial registration number when applicable.
Authors must provide accurate authorship information, funding details, conflict-of-interest declarations, data availability statements, and any required ethics approval statements. ASTESJ may request supporting documents during editorial screening or peer review.
Ethics requirements are described on the Publishing Ethics page. Editorial roles and affiliations are listed on the Editorial Board and Editorial Office pages.
Open Access Policy
ASTESJ is an open-access journal. Published articles are freely available online immediately after publication. Readers may access, read, and download published articles without subscription charges.
The open-access model is supported through article processing charges paid by authors, institutions, or funders after acceptance. Fee payment is handled separately from editorial evaluation and does not influence peer review or publication decisions.
Fee details are available on the Article Processing Charge page.
Publication Frequency and Metrics
ASTESJ publishes six issues per year. Journal statistics, including publication counts and editorial processing metrics, should be maintained on the journal statistics page and updated at least annually. Any major change in publication volume should be explained through a factual note based on submission volume, acceptance rate, scope screening, and special issue activity.
Current statistics are available on the Journal Statistics page.
Scope Governance
Scope changes are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial leadership before publication on the journal website. Special issue proposals are checked against the approved scope before public announcement. The journal website, author instructions, reviewer guidance, and editorial policies should use the same scope and peer-review language.
The editorial structure is available on the Editorial Board and Editorial Office pages. General inquiries may be sent through the Contact ASTESJ page.
