Genetics and Heredity focus on the study of genes, genetic variation, and the mechanisms by which traits are inherited across generations. The field explores molecular, cellular, and population-level processes that shape biological diversity and influence health, development, and evolution.

Current research includes genome structure and function, gene regulation, epigenetics, genetic mapping, quantitative genetics, and genomic technologies. Advances in high-throughput sequencing, gene editing, bioinformatics, and systems biology are expanding understanding of genetic mechanisms and their practical applications.
