Microbiology (MBI)
Section Information
Microbiology focuses on the study of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, archaea, and protozoa. The field examines their structure, function, genetics, metabolism, and interactions with hosts and environments.
Current research includes microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology, industrial microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, microbiome studies, and molecular microbial genetics. Advances in genome sequencing, metagenomics, bioinformatics, and imaging technologies are transforming understanding of microbial diversity and function.
This section publishes laboratory investigations, clinical studies, environmental analyses, molecular research, and review articles related to microbial systems and their applications in health, industry, and ecosystems.
