Virology (VIR)
Section Information
Virology focuses on the study of viruses, their structure, genetics, replication mechanisms, evolution, and interactions with host organisms. The field examines viral diseases in humans, animals, and plants, and supports the development of vaccines, antiviral therapies, and public health strategies.
Current research includes viral pathogenesis, immune responses to infection, emerging and re-emerging viruses, viral genomics, and molecular diagnostics. Advances in sequencing technologies, structural biology, vaccine platforms, and antiviral drug development are strengthening global responses to viral threats.
This section publishes laboratory investigations, clinical studies, epidemiological research, translational studies, and review articles related to fundamental and applied virology.
