Geology (GLG)
Section Information
Geology focuses on the study of the Earth’s materials, structure, history, and dynamic processes. The field examines rocks, minerals, fossils, landforms, and geological events to understand the evolution of the planet and its surface environments.
Current research includes sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, paleontology, tectonics, and natural resource exploration. Advances in field mapping, laboratory analysis, geochronology, remote sensing, and numerical modeling are improving knowledge of Earth history and geological hazards.
This section publishes field-based investigations, laboratory studies, geological mapping research, modeling analyses, and review articles related to Earth systems and geological processes.
