Section Information
Coatings and Films in Materials Science focus on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application of thin films and surface coatings that enhance material performance. The field studies protective, functional, decorative, and smart coatings used in industrial, electronic, biomedical, and energy applications.
Current research includes thin film deposition techniques, surface engineering, corrosion protection, nanostructured coatings, optical and electronic films, and environmentally friendly coating systems. Advances in plasma processing, vapor deposition, sol–gel methods, and surface modification technologies are improving durability, efficiency, and functionality.
This section publishes experimental studies, materials characterization research, process optimization analyses, performance evaluations, and review articles related to advanced coating technologies and thin film systems.
