Mineralogy (MNG)
Section Information
Mineralogy focuses on the study of minerals, their structure, composition, properties, formation, and classification. The field examines crystalline materials formed through geological processes and their role in Earth systems and industrial applications.
Current research includes crystal chemistry, mineral formation processes, high-pressure mineral physics, geochemical behavior of minerals, and advanced analytical techniques. Developments in spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and computational modeling are improving understanding of mineral structures and transformations.
This section publishes laboratory investigations, field studies, crystallographic analyses, experimental simulations, and review articles related to mineral properties, formation, and applications.
